It’s strange how sometimes, you learn things about yourself you never knew…
“He begged ex-girlfriend for reconciliation and was rejected.”
“For a year, he could not let go of this relationship and all hopes of reconciliation were dashed this Lunar New Year.”
“He started a blog and his blog entries are very sad.”
The above was ”printed on paper”…
The Truth is:
The below was “over the phone”…
“Writing a blog has nothing to do with my previous relationship or being out of love. Why do people always think that you only write when you are sad? It’s just that recently, I’ve been having a lot of thoughts and I wanted to pen them down. Maybe, it’s the urge to write again. From my Literature days, I think. I’ve always liked writing. I also thought that through my blog, my fans who care about me and people who are close to me can learn more about me and understand me better if they wish to. To see the more personal side of me, a different side of me perhaps from day-to-day encounter. But although my blog is ‘open to public’, it’s not ‘meant for public’. As in I write for myself and it’s not written to address the public; there is no target audience in my writing. I hope this article’s focus will be on my blog and not my previous relationship, which has already been more than a year back.”
“It was a mutual separation. We moved on to new phases in our lives; hence, our paths and thinking diverted. We still keep in contact over the phone once in a while. For a year after, you know, you still have the little flame, the little glow, that refuses to go away, to blow out. But a year after, you tell yourself it’s over and it’s time to move on. To put into history, to close that chapter of your life safely in one corner of your heart and move on. And I’m very happy at this point.”
“You think my blog entries are very sad and blue? No lah, they are very optimistic and forward-looking! I know they can come across as bleak and pessimistic but if you really understand them, they are very positive and full of hope! [To question certain things in life, to accept reality, to come to terms with, to face bravely, no delusion involved, to move forward.] Being sentimental and contemplative about many things in life doesn’t mean I’m disillusioned about the future. I might be pessimistic last time when I was much younger but now, I’m very optimistic, much more ‘feeling’ and definitely more ‘in the moment’.”
I have always believed that the basic premise is to capture “Truth” in writing. More important than “Truth” would be to capture “Soul” in writing, in Life. A sort of “justice”, a “moral responsibility”.
In a postmodern world, “what you see is what you get, no more”. Sensationalisation. Dramatisation. Projection. Production. Pretention. Presentation. Imagination. Idealisation. Creation. Fiction. To serve a function. Nothing wrong with that. As long as we are aware where it’s coming from.
So I say, let’s take it with a pinch of salt. “Truths” these days have attended yoga sessions. Contortions. Distortions. Contractions. Expansions. Illusions. Lost in Translation. Different degrees of “Truths”. In the shape of written words, spoken words, idiosyncracies, subjective perception, rumours, gossip, hearsay, “I heard”, “They said”… Last time, they said “nothing but the truth”; now, it’s “nothing but half-truth”. Virtual Reality. Artifice. Machines. Robots. Cloning. Photoshop. Makeup. Humans. Love. How much “Truth” is left and how much left is “Truth”? How do we tell fact from fiction? Awareness and Discretion, I should say.
And the Truth is…

You certainly can write v v v well. For those who don’t know you / your occupation may think that you are an emotional / reflective person. The screen you is always so cheerful and smiling, and friendly, which indeed you are …but the way you pen your thoughts allow us to see the other side of you – so intellectual with deep in thinking/thoughts.
For as long as you remain positive (which you are), we are always here with you, supporting you all the way.

Good morning!
Sometimes we think twice whether to believe the papers’ words. what is true and what is not? Things these days have got out of hand because people like “juicy news” which are often 1/4 the truth. Opening a blog is no big deal, many thousands of people open blogs these days.. just because you’re a celebrity, opening a blog for you will be “the topic”. It’s always the case.. this will get over soon.
No matter what it is, we elves will always be behind you :)
We know that what media published is always not every single word that an artiste had said.
They tend to add abit or more to make the news interesting and to gain readers to read it. However, it can be misleading at times if readers are not aware of it.
This is your blog. You have your own rights to pen down your thoughts. Like what you said, you are not blogging for the public, but for yourself. It is just another channel for us to get abit closer to you, to understand you better.
Yup, i don’t agreed that your entries are sad at all. Maybe different people see it differently. Example, your entry on “first love”. Maybe some people will think you are sad, can’t get over your first love or whatever. But to me, i think that it might be just because when you listen to Cannonball, it makes you recall your first love. Just as simple as that.
The word truth is really hard to define. Sometimes, some things doesn’t matter anymore if it is truth or not. Sometimes, when you tell someone a truth, they might still ponder if it is really a truth. Sometimes, when a truth is being spread to the 10th person, it is no longer the truth anymore.
So no matter what’s the truth, as long we ourselves know it, and we know we did not do anything wrong, so just let it be. We can’t make everyone fully understand the truth but everyone will definitely have eyes and heart to see/feel how true it is.

I guess everyone noes how e media likes to stir up “news” and “headlines”.
Thinking back of the times, the person, the feeling might be still there. Its not that easy to forget or let go of a relationship easily. saying is easy but how many can really do it? The love and care and concern u had forked in the past. and 5 years, its really a long time. However, I believe time will heal everything. Life still goes on. Perhaps god wants you to meet afew obstacles obstructing you in life before you can reach the finishing line. Happily Ever After still does exist! At least to me I still believe in this saying. =)
Yup, I agree. you really let me know more about the other v diff side of you thru ur blog entries. Its certainly very diff from what we know you from your real life or from the screen.

i guess the line between out in public and for the public is very much blurred. bane of technology i reckon.
(mis)interpretation of words, of actions, of everything that’s laid under the sun. there’s not much a person can do about it anyway. everyone knows how the media works. no sensationalisation no news ‘value’. the lengths some would go to scares me. you’re definitely one of the very few who’s keeping it real. the fight for basic integrity and truth is a tough one but you’re not alone =)
no one’s answerable to anyone but his/herself. you live your life for no one and no one’s living a life of yours.

The reliability of media is definitely questionable. I find that many Hollywood celebrities are being exploited wrongly. The whole money generating prospect of creating rumours for their sake. Dirty business. Especially when a celebrity is the hot topic, the reporter assigned on the job, has to bother about what is the selling point of the article. It gets tiring to read half truths and untruths and after a while, what goes in goes out.
(Whoever the faker is, hope you have a ten year inch in your heart) lol..
As long as you are true to yourself, and to what you are blogging, what others want to say about you doesn’t matter. You know how people like to assume, perhaps the cannonball song is the source of fabrication. Anyway, you have already tried to justify yourself, it’s up to the individual to choose to believe which side of the story is true. (What’s there to lose, you have so many fans.)
Btw, I don’t think that all your blog entries are depressing, except for the “Everything happens for a reason?” entry. Because the creation of the world is not a flux. Really. The rest are reflective, and bound by your own philosophy.

Just giving some thoughts..
You can write anything in your own blog because it’s your ‘own’… and not others.. it’s a place for you to pen your frustrations, your thoughts, your happiness.. anything ups and downs.. clearly, they do not have the right to criticise, change the truth, mislead your entries.. If they are not happy about it, they can simply just click the ‘x’ and leave!
So… don’t care about those whoever the reporter or journalist chose to mislead your entries.. They are trying to get something to write on you.. Perhaps they have nothing to write already and need some fresh news? I just wonder, are they tired of it? Hmm, I think their jobs are the hardest.. need to crack the brain.. oh ya and need creativity.. haha.. =/
Cheer up! ignore the negatives and look forward.. Being a celebrity, you have to endure all the stuffs, be it good or bad! That’s a routine i guess. You may be hard to be your real self in front of everyone. But even if you are in you real self, some people may want to say something too. Duhx, isn’t it piss? You are trapped between the 2 ends…
Some people tend to like you, some people tend to don’t like you… Even we human beings.. we may not be able to get everyone like us… In life, we will come across different types of people… whether they like us or hate us.. and we may not be always enjoying happiness throughout.. But at least, there’s some things/issues that we can be contented with.. those true friends to stand by you, your family members.. They are the ones who will always listen to your happiness and sorrow, not leaving you behind when you need a pair of listening ears or a shoulder to lean on..
Relationship is always a tough contract to sign.. I really feel the feelings of why celebrities chose to keep secret of personal relationships.. Because there are journalists who will tend to mislead the truths.. add salt and butter.. It’s very funny.. when celebrity is single, they will ask when you are getting one? when celebrity is in a relationship, they will ask if it’s happy.. when will be getting married? when celebrity ends a relationship, they will ask why end? third party? will patch? Aren’t they tired of it? =.=
As a human being, ending a relationship is a very very difficult decision.. definitely the flame is there and will need to take some time to sort out and move on.. If a relationship ends and there’s no feeling already, then people will think that the person hasn’t put in effort, people will then say ‘ahh, is it playing and not a serious one?’ very contradicting.. Just don’t understand what they want though!!!
Elvin, cherish your life, cherish your love. Cherish what you are currently living in. Don’t change yourself, for the sake of others, because it’s you that you!
Negatives may come pouring into your life. Throw them out, let them drain away, the road will be dry again! New phase of life begins… (:

Ooops…now then I understand how this particular blog came about after I came to realise the ‘matter’.
Elvin – to live and let live. As long as our conscientious is clear, nothing to fear. We are all humans and have our own emotions. Nothing wrong to feel down …but more importantly, to pick oneself up and move on in life…sometimes, you will realise that everthing happens for a reason and you will meet someone better in time to come. If the other party do not cherish you, it is her ‘loss’, not yours cos thru the process, you are stronger (mentally) as you move on in life. The sun will shine tomorrow and life goes on. You have us all here with you, all the way.
Media tends to drama-tise to bring in readerships…. and if the next moment, you (celebrity) are seen with another girl, then there will be another story on how you ……. or if you are seen ‘drowning’ in drinks …then there will be a story on why you ….. [that's media, they go around scooping for news stories to spin stories]
maybe the one who sensationalised things infers writing/reporting as the art of drawing sufficient conclusions from insufficient premises.
I was going through my emails before I read this post, and I thought this particular phrase below might evoke some(more) thoughts from you.

It’s just so annoying.

Life are full of ups and downs, rights and wrongs.
They help make people become stronger and better, I supposed.

i got lost of words to read about it all. But i will just say what i feel or think.
* In an ending line, it just means a simple thing.. nothing.
i feel heart pain that you go through a year to finially willing to understand and believe it.
I guess there’s still one thing we can be glad of, that our media in singapore is still not as bad a situation like those in hongkong and taiwan… those can really write worse stuff!
I’m sure readers who know you will know what can believe (from articles) and what not to… so, don’t be too sad or worry about how people will think of you… time reveals the truth…
Perhaps, think it this way, the end of this relationship can bring you to a girl who suits you better… and through the previous relationship you would have learnt how to cherish the next girl more…

To me, the truth is within you. Only you yourself will know best and to what paparrazzi/media writes,who cares? Afterall, they like to stir up news etc..
I feel its’ good to pen down your thoughts..sometimes I do pen down mine and when free, to look back at what I wrote in the past..sometimes can be quite amusing..
As for relationships, i believe most of us love and lost before..through that we learnt and move on..its just parts and parcels of life..

Truth.
Truth is something that most people will choose to avoid, because they may not what you want to hear/see/know.
How do you be frank with someone, when you know that it will hurt your relationship/friendship/kinship?
I don’t have the answer, and that is why I’m really depressed now. I had snapped, yet I can’t show or “show the cards on the table” because then there will be chaos.
But I think it’s important to say the “Truth” in one’s blog.
It’s our sanctuary that we can pour out our feelings to.
I always keep an open mind when I read others’ blogs.
And now I don’t know what I’m rambling about. lol

You write really well and should continue with your style of writing instead of conforming to whats others wants to read.
