Forever
September 8, 2009Forever is not a timeline. Forever is a feeling.
Forever is not reality. Forever is an ideal scenario. A figment of our imagination. A concept we cling on to.
It exists though, not as an entity on its own, but a subset of the subject.
Yes, not “happiness”. But “moments of happiness”. Not knowing how tomorrow might turn out to be.
Forever can be that moment. Once past, is history, not to be experienced again, and hence forever already in its own right.
Forever can be that split-second.
Forever can be those few minutes.
Forever can be a simple sentence: “Don’t shake your legs.” In the sincerest voice. By a person you might only meet once in your life.
Forever can be 51/2 years.
51/2 years can be forever.
You can be 51/2 years old forever.
For as long as it lasts, it is forever.
When you no longer cling on to “forever”.
Forever?
Forever…
or
Forever.
Forever does not have to last forever.
Yup, forever is not a timeline.
People loves to make promises with forever.
But will it really last forever?
What’s the duration of forever?
Till the day we die?
Till the next hour?
To me, the present is the most important feeling. =)

To me, forever means only ending. Only when something ends but yet do not wish to end are called forever. And is only if you love that you will not bare to end.

Forever is a feeling. The kind of feeling which you want to keep in a memories. No timeline of how forever can last as long as the feeling is in our heart, forever will always be forever…
Forever does not exist.
Mortal does not live forever.
Eg, “I love u forever” might not last, it might turn into anger or even hatred the very next day.
Forever is just something ideal u hope for a lifetime?
Just like promises, they r meant to be broken too.

One point though: You said forever is an ideal scenario. I have been in my job for almost 5 years, and it does feel like forever. How is that an ideal scenario? Only if you assume I love my job and would not change it for another.
Forever being synonymous with happiness is a stereotype. I beg to differ. The beauty of being human is that we could never be boxed in. Forever.
I have always viewed Forever as unrealistic and impractical. Something that I shouldn’t believe. Perharps as a shield for myself. Your words somehow made me see things from another angle – an angle which I have not thought of before. And I have to agree…

there’s no specific defination of what forever is..
a fren ever told me that what really is forever is God’s love to us… as he will never forsake us no matter what. We might not understand him very well but to him, we’re more than anything.
We can see god as nothing but we cannot forget that he is a forever living god and will always be.
You can say he is just one of the God but don forget that to him, we might be just one of the 6 billion human being on earth.

The day you blogged this post, it felt like forever to me. I was overseas, part of the reason I was there was to see a friend whom I only see once a year at most.
I was there 3 weeks, he was busy all the time but expecting to be relieved of his duties the final couple of days before I returned to Singapore. But alas, he was called off at the spur of the moment 2 days before my flight home and didn’t know if he’d be able to make it.
Sep 29, we spoke on the phone. He wouldn’t be able to make it back till Oct 2, at least. He felt like he’s there at a place far away from home forever. I felt like forever waiting to see him, and waiting and hoping for the good news of him being able to meet up but none of that happened. And it’ll be next year, at least, before we’ll see each other again.
And that is how long forever is to me now.
forever, has to last forever. thats the only reason for its existence. if even forever does not last forever, then nothing is working right in this world. its just that we cant find things that last forever to make it seem as though there is no forever.
