No Lane Markings

December 24, 2009

“Why are you driving in the middle of two lanes?”

“Because in my life, there are no lane markings.”

“I don’t need to be governed; I govern myself. With enough self-discipline. I don’t need lane markings to tell me where I should go. I travel my own path. Which is single-laned and one-way, and usually without U-turns. And knowing that the general correct direction is forward.”

And maybe that’s also why Tarzan failed his driving test 9 times.

Yes it’s so true, we should always be the one charting our life path.

Haha. In life, there’s no U turn. Once you make a path, you can either go straight or make a right/left turn ahead…
    No point looking back.

Yes, Elvin – Life is meant to be live forward and not backward. While we move, do find time to take a rest/break and appreciate the scenary … many a time, we miss that in life and live to regret it thenafter.
As to lane markings, well, I guess all of us have some OB markers that we live with (also constrained by our work), I hope in time to come, we will have more opportunities to interact more.

Oh yes… reminded me of that… Honk honk you cuo ma?
Of course you have to follow the rules while you are driving, but in life, everything is beyond our control. There are no rules – solid and typical rules in life… Go with your own way, no matter what you do! That’s the point!
Haha… Maybe Tarzan is not that guy who follows rules?! Honk honk you cuo ma?

good that u r so independent. Sometimes isn’t it wonderful to get guidance from God or ur close ones? So that we don’t have to make the unnecessary U-turn.
    good night tarzan.

Lane markings act as a guideline. Guidance… subtle, yet often unappreciated and unacknowledged.

Can one live life without guidance? The answer is no. Without guidance, one will be lost. Uncertain of where to go, what to do, how to execute, etc.

Teachers, family and friends are examples of guidance in our life. Without their moral teachings, without their guidance, we will not be who we are today. Even simple teachings such as “Do not litter”, serve as a moral guidance to remind us of what we should and should not do. Before you are mature enough to govern yourself, you have to first receive guidance. It is undeniable that guidance exist our life.

As such, lane markings are necessary. Everyone will experience some form of lane markings in their life.

It is often the small things that go unnoticed. However, it is also the small things that form the big picture…

I generally think you are a good boy with a strong sense of self discipline. In that sense, you don’t really need lane markings in your life. But of course, lane markings are essential in driving otherwise chaotic. Perhaps there is already a stong sense of good and evil, a determination in yourself to live an upright life, therefore lane markings are not important, so it is an assumption that you already know all the civil and criminal laws governing the society and you are determine to do right all the time.

Whatever it is, remember to be strong in the mind and spirit in doing right and no one can discredit you.

Nothing should be governed because rules spoils the game. Randomness sometimes brings surprises – which is a component very much lacking in most people’s lives.

Life is a game. DOn’t be afraid to step out. When u lose, u learn ur own limitations. When u win, u hv indeed truely learnt to play the game. Both ways, its still winning on ur part. Some things just don’t require any thinking. Let out the child in u and take the risk. The results might be endearing to u in the end.
