a bad day

March 16, 2010

i had a bad day today. i don’t like mood swings. i don’t like to feel vulnerable. but i don’t wish to be numb either. increasingly, i find that it takes a lot for me to be happy and takes very little for me to be unhappy; when really, it takes very little to be happy and there is little to be unhappy about. how much does happiness cost? i wonder. if you have it, will you please share some with me? on bad days like these, i just want to go to bed and end the day early. tomorrow’s another day. yours.

how happy are you, on a scale of 1-10?

happiness is a choice. you’re the only one who can make yourself happy. although we can’t always control our surroundings and the events that happen, we can certainly choose how we perceive them and manage our reactions to them. we really do have control of our happiness regardless of the adversity in our lives.

i hope you wake up to a happier day tomorrow… =)

Sorry I can’t help you, cos I find myself in the same situation as you. But Elvin, sometimes you should tell yourself not to “sheng zai fu zhong bu zhi fu” . Elvin, there are billions zillions people who are more unfortunate than you, I think you should not take it for granted. Think of those ppl before you start “complaining why life is unfair to you or things like this” cos to many billions of ppl, they want to live the life you are living now. Light up…

I feel the same way too. There is no easy cure for this. The only way is too be strong and go on with life.

Try to have something to look forward to at the end of each day; movies and comfort food helps.

Dear Elvin, everyone has been through bad days. When we feel down, we find out what is the root cause of the problem, and try to solve it. It’s always better to talk to someone to get it off your chest.

I do think mood swings can be caused by biological factors. You can take food that is enriched with omega-3, it keeps your mind happy. (Cod liver oil, fish, eggs etc)

    ~What I think of happiness~
Happiness is a state of mind, not only involving the events happening in your life.
Happiness is having someone to love, and to help those in need.
Happiness is doing activities that you love, and being good at them.
Happiness is knowing that your day will not be so terrible (even when you think it is), because there will be people who are willing to share your burden.
Happiness is contentment, being appreciative with what you have, and not to desire too much on what you don’t have.
The sincerity of hearts when thanking God for the blessings.
(I think this list goes on…..and will never end. There are so many things to be happy about. Sometimes we just fail to see it. When some problem is blocking the happiness. I understand.

Please get well/happy soon, or else… your fans erherm… will be very worried.

I don’t want to ever feel sorry and sad for you. Ever.

P.S I’m going to watch Nodame Cantabile – the movie today! I’m SO HAPPY!!! and excited!! See you so emo feel like dragging you there to watch with you and my other friend. (aiya.. no la.. you tired go sleep) Going to vivo!! =D hahahaha… it’s a romantic comedy classical music drama. U can watch the drama series online. It’s so funny hahaha…

    xoxo,
    Get well —> HAPPY soon.

Not sure what causes you to have such a bad day and mood swings.

I myself do have bad days and mood swings. I will choose to be myself, be alone from others. It’s very irritating to have to entertaining people, forcing ourselves to smile during bad days.

However, thinking of the bright side. Some of the people whom you come contact today might bring you some happiness.

I would definitely love to share some happiness with you but right now i can’t do or share anything.

Think of happy stuffs. Hope you will get to knock off early and head back home, have a good sleep and tomorrow will be a great day for you.

Give you a big hug and smile and I hope it do make you a little bit happy. =D

Think of happy stuff and place thoes unhappy stuff aside. Maybe this will help you keep yourselves happy again.

Have a good night sleep as well, a good sleep will make a person feel better and happy. Sleep well and tight tonight. Dream of happy stuff.

Hope you will have a better day tomorrow. =)

well, for me, we need to be contended and grateful that we are living to be able to choose our moods/attitudes. If we do have a bad day, go for a shower and tug into bed …we are not running away from the ‘problem’ …we just need to ‘stay away’ and come back to face it the next day when we are more rejuvenated. try to think of the positive things we have and that will make us smile….eg if i want to change my job, i will think of the push factors, and that made me more negative…if we try to see the pull factors, maybe, we will feel more ‘contended’ that at least i still have a job….

it seems like it’s in trend nowadays. prob life has become so complex to the extent whereby we no longer feel excited about life.

too much choices in life leads to unsatisfaction easily as well.

i blame it on the modernisation, the pace was too fast. or should i say, prob we no longer want to know our own limits and want to reach for the sky?

anyways, it’s norm to feel unhappy. you ain’t alone.

Forget to tell you that my high fever subsided yesterday. Went to see a doctor, which I get proper medication to cure my symptoms. (Bodyache, headache, cough) I’m on the road to quick recovery.
Likewise, if the above advice (all of which I find very useful and valid), can’t seem to work on you after feeling down for many days, please seek professional help. You could be suffering from depression. There are different types of depression and only the doctor can diagnose you. It is sometimes caused by the chemical imbalance in the brain.

Am aware of this, because I’ve read up about it.
Been there before, am very normal now.

Not as an extremely happy person everyday, feeling moderate happiness day to day.

Take care and God Bless. =)

    Hi Elvin,

Just want to drop a note of encouragement to you.

You are destined for greatness. There is a great destiny ahead of you. Emotions is something that is within us that brings us up and down like a roller coaster. Life many times bring us up and down, swinging from one extreme to the other. Nevertheless, one thing for sure, light always arises like the dawn, and all will be well in this season of maximum visibility and impact for you.

Happiness is dependent on everything that goes around us outwardly, but there is a real joy truly within. Its the joy of fulfillment. Awaiting for you to discover and encounter.

No matter how bad the day is, just want to let you know there is a Greater One Up there who is watching over you, He cares about you and He loves you very much. It is in Him that we truly experience what true joy is.

    Praying for you.

hey elvin! i have lots of bad days. glad u only had one. everyday, all i think of is going back home & go to bed after a hard day’s work. unfortunately the next day when i wake up, the sucky bits do not disappear and i wake up to another bad one.

But then again the more i sleep, don’t i have less time to enjoy the things that make me happy? Maybe we should all ignore the bad things in life & just focus on and indulge in the good stuff.

I don’t know if it is frustrating to be surrounded by too much positivism because i’m to a point that positivism does not work. AlI I need is a listening ear to vent all my frustration to, no need to tell me what to do, how I should be content, how I can be happy. Just hug me tight and say “you poor thing, it’s been a tough day.” That’s enough.

Well then, you poor thing. It’s been a tough day :)

To me, Happiness is Priceless. A priceless moment revolving in our life daily. I thought so that it takes a lot to feel happy and a little to be unhappy about however reality is still reality that we cannot avoid. I had some bad days recently and the feeling is terribly making me insane.I totally have no mood for anything and disliking the feeling of being vulnerable or numb again. It feels really lousy. I can understand that. However I know I still have to walk through this path myself. Hope is the only thing I can hook on to for now, Let hope everything would turn out fine and no longer will have the chance to feel vulnerable or numb again. People like you for who you are not what you are made of in front of the screen. Be yourself and bring back that lovely smile and believe that it would be even better this time. Take Care Elvin.

Well.. I do not know how much does happiness cost.IMHO , I do not think happiness is quantifiable; it cannot be measured in terms of cost be it monetary or otherwise.

Some may argue that happiness can be derived from possessing material wealth. But I feel that happiness, is really about two things 1) it is in our minds. 2) it is our choice. Our perspectives and choice can affect/influence our happiness.

As you mentioned, “it takes a lot for me to be happy and takes very little for me to be unhappy” … then it points the next qns… why does it takes alot for you to be happy and vice versa? Was it because of high expectations or negative emotions like skepticism, being overly critical, anger towards our surroundings?

If this is the case, isn’t it really about our perspective and how we see things in life? Sometimes, we can get really caught up with the things going on in our lives that we unknowing push ourselves into a dead end. If we can just make the choice to take a step back, relook, rethink, look at things from another angle, perhaps things that really makes us unhappy may not seem so unpleasant afterall… so doesn’t that makes us happier?
