What is Not

October 14, 2010

I was told:

“Consider a cup. It’s strange that what makes it really useful as a cup is not the cup itself or the material it is made of but the empty space within it. Consider a house. It’s strange that it is the empty space enclosed by the brick or wooden structure that people actually live in.”

This shows that “What is present is necessary; what is not is essential.”

Not just the flesh, but the spirit.

Not just the body, but the soul.

Not only the maths and sciences, but the arts and literature.

Not only without, but within.

Not just what can be seen, but what cannot.

Not just what is spoken, but what is not.

Not just what is present, but what is not.

    True!!!

What is inside is the most important. But appearance is the deciding factor. We can’t denied. We always see the most outer layer first. Often we will not realize the inner layer until we get to know it further. Always the outer layer misleading us.

    Beauty gets the attention
    Personality gets the heart

Its what on the inside that counts.
    A genuine heart is priceless.

People tends to overlook the inner parts of a building or object or even a person.
Maybe cos of the beautiful outer part that have taken the main attraction and thus inner parts become not important anymore.

However, all these are too superficial. Inner is the most important.

A beautiful outer doesn’t means it have a beautiful inner too.

    But,

An ugly outer also doesn’t mean it have an ugly inner too.

What is not doesn’t matter to me, what matters most is what we should cherish. Many people focus on the wrong goal and end up living in regrets. We mustn’t fall into the same trap. We may not be able to change the world, but if we hold our passion (near to our hearts), that’s what will make the difference.
