… finally Roma

April 30, 2011

Been wanting to visit Europe since I graduated from Uni five years back. My dream destinations were Paris, Barcelona, and Rome; and I always thought I needed at least two weeks for Europe. But ever since I entered my job, I never had the luxury to take that amount of time off work and I could only continue to dream of my European holiday. This time round, I only had eight days… I decided to do it… no second thought… just go… might as well… care less. And how well it turned out to be. The Amalfi Coast (Positano) and Roma. The Amalfi Coast is one of the most dramatic and breathtaking coasts I have seen; small, little roads weaving their way through and up and down the cosy, little towns built on rocks, swaying to the tune of old, Italian music. Roma is a great spectacle on its own, not without much grandeur and romance, and long-awaited too. “Positano!” Still… top of the world!

Nice photos! 8 days can be enjoyable with the right travel partner.

The western type countries are my dream place too. Too bad, I’m still young to travel. Haha!

Love the pix! Looks like u had a great time. Envy! Envy! I love rome & Paris too! I will go there one day with my love! :)

A good friend of mind just booked a 3weeks Europe trip to go backpacking alone. First stop will be Paris. Just the thought of it makes me jealous ttm!

I always believe tt one shld travel when they are still young n strong if they can afford to. When u get old, u wldnt have the strength or courage to do something anymore. Was hoping to have a long break before I start my new job perhaps fly somewhere I haven been to. but too bad what came true was only a 3-days-break. Sigh sigh sigh!

    Love your shades! :3
    Take care!
    Remember to shave :p

WOW AMAZING PHOTOS!!! You must have enjoyed yourself very much! IT’S MY DREAM TO VISIT EUROPEAN COUNTRIES TOO!!! HOPEFULLY MY DREAM COMES TRUE SOMEDAY.. :D

It’s not the days or time fram you’ve got that count, it’s the memories you’ve made within the 8 days right?! ;)

Take care and YAY! It’s a labour day tomorrow, so I’m guessing you’ll just be chilling around yeah? No work for tomorrow hopefully! REST WELL. You deserve everything good that comes in your way. :D

    Lots of love,
    Yuting.

Lovely! Went Roma incl Positano, Cinque Terre in 2010 and absolutely fell in lurve with the place. No words can describe the amazing landscape, rich heritage n culture, quirky side alleys, cooling gelato, yummy pasta… :)

Next time, if you can, visit Naples too. It’s less crowded than Roma and somehow, there’s this surreal feeling walking thru the alleys and stopping by the street stalls…

Envy …. you are still there or are you back from Europe (since we last met at SA 2011 on 24 Apr)? Din recall you mentioning anything then. That aside, really envy …sometimes, life is meant to be lived that day …just drop whatever you have on hand and go for it… (Un)fortunately, I can’t as yet …cos, I (each of us) have our fair share of ‘responsibilities’ to shoulder….Enjoy your trip (if you are still there…) and back in time for Polling Day (which I am working …sob)

Just looking at these photos make me feel like visiting Europe too. Really breathtaking, the ocean, and the historical monuments.. Amazed by the architecture of the Colosseum.
I love how the buildings are reflected onto your glasses. Cool shades. =)

Hope that I can tour Europe someday.. maybe even study there. =D

Gotta practise harder for my audition!

Haha this is really random – my second comment even though I’m a follower of your blog. Anyway what I wanted to ask was, “Did you really travel across the cities in a vespa?!” *ENVY* That’s my dream, to travel across the European continent in a bright yellow vespa. Random silly dream. Haha! Thanks for sharing anyway, I’m so glad I’m gg to Europe for my grad trip (1month) even though I’m going to be flat broke when I’m back. Oh wells, you’re only young once!=D

I guess the quality of time that you spent in Roma makes a difference. You may not enjoy and treasure each day as much if you spent 14 days. Elvin still looking great with moustaches :) Jia you always, Elvin ~

very nice photos.. i enjoy it. it is just very near to paris.. just 3 hours by plane i think. i’ve not been there yet. been to london yes.. theres your fav soccer team there other than that i am in paris.
aw.. 8 days… too little. even 2 weeks is not enough for just paris.
i think a month is good. if you come by paris let me know.. i bring you some good nice romantic park with castle. you like sea.. we can go etretat or cute town just beside it at honfluer. just 3 hours drive from paris. i can ensure you will get to eat the best cakes and cookies on earth. your fav too? pineapple tart here dont have. ;) in paris, to enjoy it is simple.. it is as easy as a nice lunch by chatelet.. after shopping then trocadero for eiffle, charles de gaulle etoile for the arc and in the night st-michel for great dinner and drinks in pub. these are central paris.. the north you have haussmann st-lazare for the huge shopping mall and opera that you will like to visit. it most beautiful build to me even it not the most important.. and the south is montparnasse.. theres a lacost shop there super cheaper.. and china town in tolbiac. super nice dumplings there. i miss it! i live within paris still get the metro.. ;) not rer. haha.. i am at boulogne pont de st-cloud. line 10. nice town here. not much bad people. it within a good area. xD hopefully i get to see you some day in paris. =)

This must have been a beautiful trip and a real significant one. It might even be a milestone trip in which you experienced certain breakthroughs in your mind & subsequently in your life.

When I saw your post, it reminded me of my first trip to Nepal with the ODAC group in NUS in 1997, my first (& probably only solo trip) to Australia in 2001 as well as my family first trip my husband & I had with our 10 mth old son to Tuscany in 2006.
