Dreams

September 11, 2012

Dreams –

When I first read that “dreams are what you wake up from”, I didn’t understand what it meant and felt it was too sober, too pessimistic;

Nobody likes to be too sober perhaps, to stare life in the face.

Then many years later I came across a Japanese poem, in it was a line that was repeated three times:

“For dreams — they will be broken.” x3

I tried to reject it x3, too defeatist, nobody likes to talk about broken dreams, you just don’t put the two words together, I don’t care.

Dreams –

Now, I have to admit and realise that sometimes, yes “dreams are what you wake up from” and sometimes, yes they can be broken.

That’s just a fact of life, be able to face it, nothing sad actually, ok a bit sad.

Well, sometimes they can’t be realised or fall short, simple as that, but that doesn’t mean you’re pessimistic, or lack imagination.

The truth is

Dreams –

they give us something to look forward to, to work for; they brim with potential and give us a sense of great unfulfilled and unrealised potential;

make us feel we’re bigger and better and more important than we just are at a point; that we’re meant for greater things;

that take us away into our own world, a virtual world, do away with the harshness and judgement of this world;

a peaceful, quiet place where you find solace and comfort, less consciousness, friendlier lighting, gravity defying even,

greater elasticity and expansivity of thought, creativity, and imagination, life, more than life itself,

to be put into action, hope, faith, daring, effort, toil, reward.

there to be dreamt of, fought for, still pursuing; on the brink, already fulfilled and realised; there to be broken; there

Like sleep, like emotions, like change of tide, like day and night,

Dreams –

We go in and out of them;

Dreams –

I still believe in you.

“I have a dream.”

It’s still the same dream.

    Totally agree with the truth about dreams! Dreams come from within and reveal things we are too afraid to pursue, reveals things we are capable of.

    But dreams will remain dreams if it’s not put into action, so let’s build up courage and perseverance, to fulfil those dreams! :) Even if they are eventually not fulfilled, there won’t be regrets and what if-s.

    Dream on!! :D

    You are still young, dream something you would like to do in the future but don’t take too long to fulfill it or the dream will remain a dream.

    In my sunset years, perhap others could fulfill my dream. Now I am not bothered if my dream would be fulfilled, it could someone who is in the better position to carry out that dream.

    I randomly came across this site and coincidentally wrote a poem the night before about forgotten “dreams” personify by our individual “lucky star”, if for a moment it does it make any sense. So, here’s something to maybe whisper into your soul and to nudge that little faith that might slip away.

    Where art thou, my lucky star?

    If every star was destined for every individual,
    have you ever wondered where yours went?
    When you made a wish and it never came,
    you made a prayer that was never sent.
    If a million stars shone across the universe,
    have you wondered if yours remained forgotten?
    That you could never interrupt fate,
    no writer to alter what has been written.
    If every star would twinkle with every individual breath,
    have you ever wondered if yours would just shine a little stronger toinght?
    Where art thou,my lucky star?
    Won’t you try a little harder, with all your might?

    Dream is an escape from reality and gives a false sense of hope. The bigger your dream, the harder you fall. You need courage to dream and attempt to materialize it and I agree that dreams give you something to look forward to. But I believe no expectations, no disappointments :)

    Dreams… I used to believe and I still will believe. Because dreams are what we live for, isn’t it?

    Someone who I called my world is the dream I always wanna catch. After he left, I don’t know what’s a dream anymore. But I still hope him to be back one day. I think that’s how dreams work like? I don’t know.

    Having a dream is a process of growing up, be it dreams came true or broken, we grew from it.

    All the best having your dreams come true.

    Especially like the last few lines. In life, at times we lose faith in things we once hold dearly, on and off this kind of emotions and thots surface, but end of the day we bounce back because that is what made us US.

    Hi…am I now dreaming? Am I really going to get married? Somehow I feel insecure. Should I pull the plug? He always has sms at night. Even since last year a series of incidents I feel insecure about it. A voice tells me he can be trusted. Another voice tells me his female friends cannot be trusted. Maybe because I hv not seen them. Maybe because they are so young. Maybe because he had a previous girlfriend is of their age. Left 2 more months for wedding. Should I be the runaway bride? Tell him my insecurity? Ever since sawing how a female can seduce my ex n how he can do things without sharg my feelings….this feelg is so hard to bear. Maybe I m too sensitive.
